There is no surprise that Android is leading in the US smartphone market with a wide range of powerful phones from important manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC or Motorola. What's more interesting is that there is a growing number of mobile phone consumers wanting to purchase a 4G Android phone.

Which carrier has the best 4G handset? We'll give you an overview with the relevant Android phones from all four major US carriers featuring the 4G technology, a new generation of cellular wireless standards that has started to play a significant role for media coverage.

Sprint was the first airline to launch in the US its 4G network and to bring the first 4G Android phone with the popular HTC EVO 4G, a huge 4.3-inch handset with great technical details. It is available via Sprint since June 2010 for $200 with contract. Another 4G Android devices are the younger brother of the HTC EVO, HTC Evo Shift and Samsung Epic, a member of the Galaxy S lineup.

The second US carrier to deliver 4G network was T-Mobile. Probably their best 4G smartphone is the recently announced, HTC Sensation, hitting the shelves on June 15th. Currently T-Mo offers the succesor of the G1, the T-Mobile G2 and Samsung Galaxy S 4G. Listed as coming soon is also another Samsung member family, the Exhibit 4G, a mid-range and budget friendly device.

As for the AT&T options, if you're looking for a 4G equipped handset, you'll find the HTC Inspire plus the impressive Samsung Infuse with its impressive 4.5-inches display. Let's not forget also about the Motorola Atrix, AT&T's first dual-core Tegra 2 chipset Android phone that is paired with an optional Laptop Dock.

Verizon offers a few great LTE smartphones such as the LG Revolution, the most recent addition to their lineup or the Samsung DROID Charge with its atypical form factor. HTC Thunderbolt is Verizon's first 4G Android phone considered to be a good option. We could mention the DROID Bionic too, although it has been delayed and there is no official info about its release date.

Probably it's very difficult to make a decision and the best thing is to have in mind the carriers data plans also to see which one suits your personal needs.
