No surprise here. As you've probably expected, Google announced the new version of Android 2.2 platform, Froyo, at its I/O developer conference in San Francisco. The 2.2 version was loaded on a Nexus One for testing and showing the public its highlights. According to Google, Froyo is "the world's fastest mobile browser".
Let's see what's new on Android 2.2 platform:
- more speed - Dalvik Performance Boost: 2X-5X performance speedup -a just-in-time compiler
- performant browser - the V8 engine enables faster loading of JavaScript-heavy pages
- better Exchange integration
- new developer APIs: apps on external storage, media framework, camera and camcorder, graphics, data backup, device policy manager, UI framework
- tethering and portable Wi-Fi hotspot - can be shared with up to 8 devices
- multiple keyboard languages
- Flash Player 10.1
- chrome browser plugin, camera and gallery, Gmail, Calendar, Voice recognition settings, security, car dock
- Bluetooth 2.1
- new developer services: Android Cloud to Device Messaging, Android Application Error Reports.
