Yesterday's event was the perfect occasion for Sprint to show off its innovative Android phone that incorporates two screens. Kyocera Echo was unveiled by Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse and represents their first dual touchscreen smartphone that will be available this spring.

The new handset features two 3.5-inch 480 x 800 displays which can be opened and use as a single touchscreen measuring 4.7-inch 960 x 800 surface. Both displays are connected by a patent-pending "pivot hinge" that enables the two displays to work independently.

As for the rest of the specs, Kyocera Echo features 1GHz Snapdragon QSD 8650 (not dual core), running on Android 2.2, a 5MP camera with flash, autofocus and 720p video capture plus Bluetooth 2.1(+EDR), WiFi ,3G network and more apps from Google. What about battery life, you are probably wondering. Here is something smart. It comes packaged with a spare battery (1370 mAh) and a low-profile charging cradle.

Impressed by the phone? It will come for $199 with a new two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate in all Sprint retail channels this spring. No specific date mentioned.
