Android Marketshare 11% Posted on: November 23, 2009
AdMob, the mobile ads company that was recently aquired by Google published it's monthly reports about the phones browsing the web. And in those reports we can see Android has 11% of the worldwide smartphone market and 12% of the US market. Not bad for a two year job, considering we only had one Android phone for most of the time.
And you can see that by looking at the chart above, the HTC Dream, despite being a less than perfect phone, managed to keep a 36% slice of the Android pie. Magic, which is a decent phone only got 21%, but the big, and I mean BIG surprise is that Motorola DROID managed to get 24% of the Android market in just a few weeks.
This shows what a great phone the Droid is and what the combination of a great phone, great network and great ad campain can do for Android. People would've loved Android only they did not knew about it. Now times are changing, 2010 will be such a great year for our favorite green robot.
Manufacturers just can't ignore these figures and they'd better start developing high performance Android phones, cause the market clearly wants them.
