Motorola Defy Posted on: September 2, 2010 [Source]
Did you expect a rugged phone with water, dust and scratch resistance to come out? Well, the new Android device might be exactly what you're looking for. It seems Motorola is having quite a productive week. After the announcement of the Motorola XT300 slider and Milestone 2 arriving to European mobile market, yesterday they have officially unveiled the Motorola Defy.
Taking the queue from the Motorola i1, it wants to be one of the most rugged Android phones available on the market. But who said that a rugged device has to look like a piece of military equipment? The design of the Defy is pretty decent, solid and durable enough "to handle everything that life throws your way", as Alain Mutricy from Motorola said.
Enhanced with MotoBlur, the announced Defy is a slim, pocketable Android smartphone that comes equipped with Android 2.1, a 3.7-inches high-resolution display protected with Gorilla Glass (which should do a great job), the 800 MHz OMAP 3610 processor, 5-megapixel camera with flash, digital zoom and auto focus plus advanced Web-browsing capabilities.
As you probably guessed, a release date for the phone hasn't been announced yet, but it is expected to arrive in Europe in Q4. Regarding the update with 2.2 OS version, it is currently "being investigated", so small chances to see it coming in time for launch. If you want a device like this one, added it on your Christmas list.
