Panasonic will deliver its first Android phones Posted on: November 18, 2010 [Source]
Well, look who's going to join the Android market competition! None other than Panasonic. Yes, you heard it right. The Japanese company is back in business and working on its first line of Android phones, available across Japan early next year and in 2012 overseas.
After quiting the mobile phone market a few years ago, Panasonic decided to bring new devices on stage, this time targeting the international scene also. While admiting it was late to join the smartphone party, they "want to catch up quickly", as Osamu Waki, head of the company’s mobile communications unit announced.
One more interesting thing was regarding the number of units they want to sale: up to 15 milion units worldwide in 2015, "compared with forecast sales of 5.4-5.5 milion units in Japan alone in the year to March". Interesting scores. Let's hope they get there. In case you didn't know, Panasonic has stopped producing mobile devices for the international market in 2006.
Curious to see how the Japanase company will bear up the other competitors like Apple, HTC or Samsung. Anyway, it's good to know they "waked up". Good luck with future projects, guys!
