Acer Liquid Review Posted on: November 5, 2009
The guys at theunwired.net got their hands on the new Android phone from Acer, the Liquid and decided to share the oppinions on the phone via a comprehensive review. Here are some highlights of that review.
- You already know the specs from our dedicated page, but here's a recap of the major features: Sanpdragon processor at 768 MHz, 3.5 " 800x480 px touchscreen, 256 RAM, 512 ROM, quadband GSM and triband 3G, WiFi, GPS, compass and accelerometer.
- The exterior of the phone is "refreshing", curvy and closer to a media player, with white, red and black color options.
- It doesn't have a D-pad or trackball, which we tottaly understand after having an old HTC Magic for quite a while now and never, and I mean never using the trackball. It has Android buttons for home, back and menu but they are touch buttons. The only hardware buttons are on the sides for volume, power and camera.
- Conectivity consists of a miniUSB on the bottom and a standard 3.5 mm jack on the top.
- On the top, near the headphones jack it has three LED indicators for unread messages, missed calls and battery status.
- It has a removable 1350 mAh battery.
- It has a customised UI over the standard Android 1.6 OS, but there are only few differences to the stock version, like a modified dialer and camera app, but most of the features are unchanged.
- It has all the Google Apps like Gmail, Google Maps, Market, YouTube and Google Talk even though it is not a Google branded "Experience" phone.
As a conclusion Acer Liquid made a good impression on the revewers and is a great start for Acer in the Android market. It is expected to hit major european markets in the following weeks.
