Does Samsung Gem looks familiar to you? It should, because the device has been making its appearance about one month ago, being presented as a new Android phone coming on the market and landing on Verizon. While few details were given back then, now a new listing for the phone in Best Buy buyer's guide posted by the folks over at Engadget confirms the existance of this mid-range device heading for Verizon.
It looks like the new Android piece will run Android 2.1 (not 2.2), including both TouchWiz 3.0 and Swype along with a 3.2 MP camera and up to 16 GB of external memory via microSD card, GPS, WiFi or Bluetooth 3.0. Knowing that the Fascinate will be released in about one week and most people will focus on it, probably the Gem will not get too much of Android lovers attention.
But it's a good thing to know that the Android market is growing day by day no matter if it's a smartphone, a middle or low range device. As for the pricing or availability of the Samsung Gem, no details were given, but we expect to see it coming soon before or after the Samsung Fascinate launch.
